Pre-Med at McGill

I'm interested in applying to Mcgill, but would it seem bad to go there?

How is the grading/competitiveness there?

Are there any advantages/disadvantages if I went there compared to a US school?

How is the quality of pre-med there?

anyone? bump

I know one disadvantage is that there is a lot of grade deflation there, and it would be a lot harder to obtain a good GPA, just because the grading is so much harsher and so few As are given out.

My D is strongly considering McGill for premed as well. As I understand it, McGill is very well-respected for pre-med and I don’t believe you would be at a disadvantage in the ‘prestige’ department if you were to attend McGill. As for grade deflation, I have heard that grade deflation exists at McGill, but I have also heard grade deflation exists at many top-tier universities.

Canadian universities differ from US universities in many respects – you should pay a visit to the McGill message board on CC to get some background on the school itself and see if it is to your liking.
