So I’ve been accepted to the University of Richmond and I was wondering about their pre med program. I haven’t heard much about it but I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or bad thing. Basically what I’m asking is how rigorous is it compared to other schools VA schools, or other schools in general. Is the quality of education good, will I be prepared for medical school? If there’s anyone who’s a pre med at the University of Richmond, I’d love to hear their experiences!
As a student here, I can tell you the premed program is outstanding. We have somewhere in the mid to high 70 percent accepted into medical school the last few years and our MCAT scores average around the 70th percentile too. The exposure to researcher, volunteer opportunities, and connections to shadow spider alumns who are doctors in the city are some of the wonderful things that make our program successful. A lot of people I know are going to med school next year and I have also been accepted. If you have any more questions feel free to reach out!
@RichmondSpider94 Wow, that’s great to hear! How would you describe your experience, specifically transitioning from high school to college during your freshman year?
The biggest thing I would recommend transitioning is to have a plan of what you want to do and be very proactive in terms of your school work and looking for extra curricular activities.
@RichmondSpider94 That’s good advice, thanks! I have another question, how rigorous are the courses?
The courses prepare you well and certainly range in rigor depending on which ones you take. The biggest jump in college is the time invested doing homework/studying.
