I am wanting to pursue a career in medicine but im not sure what i should do about my undergrad studies. I dont have the grades or anything to get into my UC schools and they are the only ones who offer biomedical engineering. Should i go to my local community college and then transfer or will a community college look bad on my pre med application. should i go to a state school for a year or two and transfer from there to a UC?

UCs are state schools...
But if you mean community college then transfer to, say, UC Berkeley, it may look OK – they may think that you have aptitude and so forth, you just slacked off a bit in HS.

Go to the Pre-med forum and read the sticky threads at the top. If you have further specific questions, ask them there, you will get more and better informed responses.

First, ask why yourself want to do biomed engineering, engin is a tough major that does not facilitate the high GPA that med schools like to see. Second, realize that every school is a premed school as long as they offer bio, chem, and physics (maybe need a sem/yr of calculus, too). Go to the school you feel most comfortable and then you'll do well and be competitive for med school. If you can't get into UCs as an undergrad there's a good chance you won't be doing a UC med school, but there are plenty of private allopathic and osteopathic schools you can explore when the time comes. (I'd start at a CSU school, but also explore Merced and Riverside as UC possibilities.)

Speaking to that point, you should just major in what you enjoy and take your med school-required classes as needed. I've met plenty of doctors who majored in humanities or social sciences fields and did quite well in medicine. After all, people who majored in English do the best of all on the MCATs.
