I plan on studying biology as my major but I want to do pre-med to become a physician. However I know that most medical schools such as SBU’s say that they look down on those who go to community colleges and take the prerequisites there. So I’m not see which sciences classes to take at SCCC. I’m trying to transfer after one/two semester since I have 24 credits after one semester because I took summer classes at SCCC while in highschool. I’m not sure which classes to take my first semester that won’t lower my chances for medical school.
Good question. It’s not the CC issue, from what I understand, as much as it’s the summer courses issue. Five weeks of chem vs 13 weeks of chem are two very different animals.
At Suffolk – take gen ed stuff (English, history, fine arts, etc.), and get as far as you logistically can on the calc (126 -> 141 -> 142) and chem (133 & 134) tracks.
