I will be entering a large state school as a freshman next fall, and I am interested in majoring in International Studies with an emphasis in European studies, and possibly double majoring in Russian. Please tell me if my proposed schedule is acceptable:

Physics for Scientists and Engineers 1 + lab (5 units)
General Biology w/ lab (4 units)
Introductory Russian 1 (4 units)
Introduction to International Relations (3 units)
for a total of 16 credit hours.

I also have some questions..

I am considering taking an easier, non-calculus based physics class, namely General Physics, instead of the one I am registered to take. I am interested in physics but perhaps I should take the easier physics class so I don't have such a tough course load. Your thoughts?

A major in International Studies requires 33 credit hours + a study abroad trip or internship in another country. A major in Russian requires about the same number of credit hours, minus the study abroad trip (although it is highly recommended). If I were to double major, would I have an easy time completing my pre-med requirements and the major requirements? Some of them will overlap, so I will probably need only 50 credit hours for the double major. But I also have to take General AND Organic Chemistry, and a few other classes for pre-med. Will this be possible?

I know that medical schools accept applicants of any major, but would such an academic plan be looked upon favorably by medical school admission officers? My interests are broad and obviously do not entail just science or medicine.

Thanks. If you have questions feel free to ask.
