Pre-med: Penn vs Stanford vs Yale

title is self-explanatory...
ive been accepted to Penn, Stanford and Yale...
SMALL GLITCH: Penn offered 50% grant scholarship. Stanford and Yale no scholarship.

tough choice, its killing mee....
any suggestions, ideas?

Penn is a great school and they are giving you money. Plus, its hospital is highly ranked and is in a city which would all be great for experience.

hmm that is tough .

well , if you’re a ranking kind of guy, yale is up at three while stanford and penn are ranked at four . still , i dont think i need to point out that either way you’re talking about the top 5 schools in the nation, anywhere you go, you’re bound to get an excellent education. not to mention that the whole idea of a US college is ‘liberal arts’ - its not like you’re actually doing a career, so the undergraduate education that you’re going to get is not going to vary too much . if youre talking medicine, its graduate school and residency that are gonna count for your future.

i think that when it comes down to it, its not really where you go, but how you make use of your time and your resources. penn is in the middle of philadelphia, and there’s no doubt taht youll have more offers and opportunities than smaller new haven or palo alto . aand penn has got some rocking hospitals . take a look at this thread, its a little old but it sure convinced me …http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-pennsylvania/168469-pre-med-penn.html

i know a guy who went to upenn and he absolutely loved it , and if you’re a city guy , it really works .

if you’re still tied up over stanford or yale , see what you can do. there are always student loans, or if you have savings its a good place to start. can your parents lend you the money now and you can pay bakc later? if you really want it, push for it .

like sarah said, penn is offering money, and that could settle your conscience , esp if you’re already having doubts. and its not like penn is a bad school - nowhere near that …

think about it . can you visit ? that might help

good luck !! :)

PENN. For undergraduate (and pre-med) purposes it’ll be as good as Yale and Stanford. But that 50% grant is what makes it a no brainer. (It’ll look impressive on your med school application, too.)

PENN!!! That 1/2 scholarship saves at least 100K that’s HUGE and the schools are comparable in reality.
