I wouldn’t really consider Figure1 a “resource.” Can it be fun/interesting to look at? Sure. Anyone can submit pictures and comment on it so who knows if you’re getting “expert health care professionals” commenting. I’m still amazed there hasn’t been a lawsuit yet. That place is malpractice waiting to happen. NEJM Images in Clinical Medicine is guaranteed to be crazy stuff with legit info. http://www.nejm.org/multimedia/images-in-clinical-medicine
My school just told us about a podcast that’s geared towards helping medical students pick their specialty but I imagine it could still be useful for pre-meds. I haven’t listened to any of them yet. http://www.undifferentiatedmedicalstudent.com/
Both here on CC and on SDN there are several posters (eg wayoutwestmom, mom2collegekids) and (gyngyn, goro, lizzym) respectively, who are motherlodes of invaluable premed info, the problem with SDN is it’s much more the wild west with many more crazies spouting off all sorts of erroneous stuff. So as to SDN be careful as a premed resource.
The joke (although it’s totally true) is that SDN actually stands for “Super Duper Neurotic.”
It absolutely contains valuable info on the process but be forewarned, that site is also full of frustrated, anxious people looking to displace their negativity onto others.
