I'm attending Berkeley next year. I'm kind of iffy about it, but it's my best/only option, really. Now... I don't know if I'm going to transfer yet or not. I could really fall in love with it and not want to leave, but since I'm pre-med, I feel like it would be more advantageous to attend a private school, due to better med school placement, smaller classes, etc, etc... now just keep in mind that attending a private next year is out of the question as I wasn't nor will be accepted into any.

I'd probably apply to transfer at these schools: Stanford, Columbia, Brown, Dartmouth, Duke, Swarthmore, Pomona, Claremont McKenna, and the likes.

High school record-
3.9 GPA, maybe even higher with my senior year grades added in
2390 SAT I
Disciplinary action on my record... (I am going to beg and beg for them to expunge it)

How easy / hard would it be to transfer to these schools after just one semester and with my HS record? assuming that I do relatively well my first semester at Berkeley?

Will attending Berkeley give me any edge when I transfer? (since it is a "top-ranked" school and all...

Any advice for the process?
