Pre-meds who LIKE orgo?

e-fight 10char

Gold,
Great. But what about when you are being taken on a tour of the school by a med student in an "informal" setting? This is when you might "slip". The med students send in evals too.

teehee, you're silly Princess'Dad.

I don't think a med student gives a **** about those kinds of slips, or would in any way judge an applicant's value by them. Do you know how many doctors have thick accents? Some of the very best! Your constant insistence of such an altogether insignificant mistake is pretentious. Not to mention petty and annoying. Go teach a sixth grade English class, and when you're not, stop spewing such silliness.

Techy
Too bad for you that I judge you and not the other way around. And I have seen the med stud evaluations (and their check list) and you have not, so ....

If only medical schools were looking for people and not robots, sigh.

Or actually, if only medical school adcoms were people and not robots who would look at character and personality over grammer mistakes in a casual conversation.

What a better world it would be.

PrincessDad,

What could you possibly be trying to add here? Speaking as a parent on a student board, I can tell you that your arguments come across as immature and condescending ("Too bad for you that I judge you and not the other way around. "), to the point where I wonder if you really are a parent.

I hope for your institution's sake that your colleagues are a bit more focused on substance, not language trivialities.

Please be a bit more patient with the informalities of a public web board.

Princess'Dad

You've been using wrong screening criteria. Maybe you should work for a recruiting company that looks for high/middle school English teachers instead.

Lets see gd,
You are th guy that thinks that underwater basket weaving is a hard course?

Of course character and personality and grades and experience come first; but when you have two people tied for one spot, then every little thing counts (eg hair combed, shoes shined, suit pressed, good grammar, etc).

Newmass: Gee, just like a job interview. Amazing how uptight people are.

My only point was that if specific grammer ("me and my friends") is off here, than it is usually off elsewhere. These kids are going on a very serious job interview where they are scrutinized by many different people (even the secretaries can have a say).

I think it was Ysk who said it correctly, even posting here reflects on them.

P'D, "experiance"?

There you go again. Guess the kids should follow what you preach, not what you practice?

Good grief....

I would treat that as a formal environment.

Hi Dad of... princess,

Maybe you didn't catch the sarcasm implied. I meant to point out how ridiculous that idiomatic expression seems to be; you may have caught it if you had seen my eyebrows go up, but regrettably this is an online board. At any rate, keep up your constant evaluation of us bloggers! We all appreciate it so much and will find it very useful when we apply to medical schools in... Tennessee.

Interesting how P'D corrected his spelling after I called him on it. Look at the time of my post above and the time of his edit to his post.

Very strange...

actually newmass, they were at the same time. I was editing when you posted. But thanks for keeping me up on my toes.

GD Now in Tenn, in past on adcom of Stanford and U of I and Arizona. They are all very similar.

Gold.
Good for you. My only point was to be careful as there are many "little things" that are used.

ps
newmass
I agree with you on APs. There is a big "fight" between the admissions people and the academic people on using them / or how they should be used.

This thread was too long to read but I enjoy orgo very much. The lab gets annoying but I love understanding the concepts of orgo and it helps me understand how certain drugs work or however they were created. Although I hate trying to get an A.

Age of Princess'Dad? Over/Under is 12

Personally from my experience, you should try to look at your subjects positively. If you just think about how much you hate them it makes it so much harder to do well. Just make yourself think how interesting the subject matter is (even if it isn't) and try to act like it's fun to learn it.
