It was hard to find any useful threads about pre-pharm at Cal..
would anyone like to share their experiences? :)

How difficult are the classes? I've heard really negative things about cutthroat competition and grade deflation at Cal

How is the difficulty compared to that of pre-med?

Do you recommend pursuing pharmacy at another college (perhaps Stanford, UCLA, USC, or UCSD)?

I know that premed and prepharm classes are hard at any college, but I'd like to know if there are disadvantages in being an undergrad at Berkeley

"- Do you recommend pursuing pharmacy at another college (perhaps Stanford, UCLA, USC, or UCSD)?"
"i'd liek to know too, is sd better than b for premed?"

It depends on what you mean by "better." Being a premed at Berkeley is not a walk in the park; many people can't handle it. So for those people, going to an easier school and getting a higher GPA is probably better. However, for those who can excel at Berkeley, being a premed is definitely a good choice. Med schools do care about which undergraduate school you came from. As an example, a friend of mine who was interviewed at UPenn and JHU said the only public schools represented in the interviewee pool were from UCLA, UC Berkeley, and UVA.

They're manageable if you put the time into them. Cutthroat competition and grade deflation are way overblown. I've never witnessed any students sabotaging others in labs.

if you're considering pre-pharm, ucsd has a joint program that allows you to complete a bachelors and pharm degree in 7 years. you apply to this program in your junior year
