i get into usc's 8 year pharm program and i love usc especially its university park campus but not so much for its health campus thou i want to study econ but since i already get into the pharm program i dont basically need to worry not get into a pharm school. My efc is 0 and i hv to pay $3000 a year and work $2500 at usc. but berkeley offers me regents so my financial need is all covered. i like berkeley too and it is close to home. but if i go for berkeley, i would like to stduy econ as well and the prerequsites for pharm school. how likely can i still get into a pharm school in the future if my major is not bio-related?? how would the grade curving at berkeley hurt me?? how strong is usc's econ/pre-pharm is?? any comments would be appreciated.

You love USC - you said it yourself. The problem now lies in whether you're willing to work while an undergrad. Not having to work is a pretty nice perk.

Congrats. We have alot of USC pharmacists in our family line. USC pharmacy is probably the best program out there. My wife has been at all levels from staff pharmacist to director positions and she feels the SC grads are the best(of course she is probably bias too.) Pharmacy school is extremely competitive as the perks of medical school are not what they use to be. Plus how many professions can you come out of school and make 6 figures off the bat. If you are qualifed to get into their BS-PharmD program, you are more than likely going to be able to get in no matter what prepharm path you choose.

8 years of SC is major money. I'd save money if possible by going with the lower costs prepharm study option.

If you don't mind me asking, but what were you stats to get into that program? My daughter is thinking about applying for the same program and just wondering what it takes to get in. PM me if you don't feel comfortable posting publicly.

Thanks.

thanks for the comments. money is reli a big concern for me. i dont reli mind work study since i think thru working, i can make some friends too. i heard ppl say that it is a lot easier to get into a pharm school when one is right after high school than when one finishes undergrad. some pharm colleges are reli competitive that only one out of 10 applicants can get in when applying as a college grad. btw, to answer aveng's question, i got 2100 for sat and pretty good sat2 (around 700) but i remember the pharm application (which is a separate application from the usc's) did not ask for sat2 scores. hope my info helps.

If you really want to become a pharmacist, you would be crazy not to accept that program at USC. Berkeley is hard, and lot of the lower division science classes are difficult because of the grade-crazy pre-med kids, me included. So don't pass up that opportunity at SC.

I agree with BlueElmo. You'll really appreciate not having to worry about pharm school admissions.
