So I just got an email saying that I got into the Pre-Pharmacy program, and I have several questions X_X

Is this program competitive to get into?

Are the odds good for me to get a good job if I do get a pharmacy degree over at UoP because I did read from another thread on College Confidential saying that employers laughed at a UoP degree (???)

Can someone please break it down for me what exactly come with the pre-pharmacy package? Will I have to apply to pharmacy school after spending 5-7 years over at UoP?

Sorry if this felt rushed! I'm just super excited that I got my first college acceptance! Good luck to everyone!!

1) I can’t speak to other schools’ admissions requirements for pre-pharm, but you have to be a good student to get in to the program. Not everyone who applies gets in (I guess that is obvious).

2) 1/3 of California’s working pharmacists graduated from UOP…so I don’t know why employers would be laughing. It is an accredited program, so you shouldn’t have issues finding work as long as the market has a need for pharmacists.

3) There are different academic paces at which you can go through your program. If you were accepted as a 2+3, this means you spend 2 years at the undergraduate level, and then 3 years working on your PharmD. You go straight into the PharmD program after the two years. A 3+3 student or 4+3 student simply spends more time working on the undergraduate coursework. As long as you complete the required classes with the necessary grades, all tracks move on to the PharmD program. Do you know which track you have been accepted in to?
