I got accepted to University of Pittsburgh for pre pharmacy and lately i have been really stressed out about it because i heard it is very competitive to get into any pharmacy school.

I am willing to work my ass off, study all night if i have to
but I just feel like i am not smart enough to compete with other people who are a lot smarter than me. I know my lack of confidence is the major issue but I just feel like even if i try and work my ass off I don't think i can pull off like 3.5 gpa (I assume that is like getting A's)which is barely considered to be good for pharmacy school :(

My other option is MPCHS (Massachusetts college of pharmacy). they offer 0+6 year pharmacy program where pharmacy program is guaranteed as long as i maintain 2.7 GPA through out. It is good for me in a sense that i don't have to stress out about whole maintaining good gpa and taking Pcat.

But it is really hard for me to turn down Upitt for MCPHS since
Upitt has a great or atleast better reputation and I feel like the name of the school will get me further in the future. Also there is a possibility that pharmacy is not for me and switch my major.

I know I am wobbling like a lil baby who is paranoid %$## out of my mind
but I would really appreciate if anyone could give me any advice of what I should/could do.

I'm actually a pharmacy major at Wilkes University and I'm in my first professional year. The first two years were tough, but they are totally manageable if you are dedicated to doing it. I have friends that transferred out of Wilkes and went to MCPHS and they only talk about how easy it is there compared to Wilkes.

That being said, I would personally choose UPitt to take your core prerequisites. While there, just keep in mind other school prerequisites as well so that you can cover all your bases and apply to a bunch of schools during your second year for the professional program in case you are turned down by one.

For some reason, I feel like the brand name of schools doesn't matter for most allied health fields (which excludes medicine/pre-med)-- they just want to know you can do the job with the necessary training. I don't know much about UPitt so I can't say anything, but MCPHS is surrounded by some of the best hospitals in the country, something else you should consider in regards to internships and job opportunities.

I feel the same way thread creator, I'm just not confident and sure of myself. >_< I'm currently in a similar situations. I look at those perfect people and think, can I really do that?

lol you guys are not alone...I want to go into either Pharmacy or Engineering and sometimes I wonder if I'm 'smart' enough to compete with those brainiacs. I'm steering towards Engineering but I'm a little worried because engineering is math and science and my math isn't the strongest. I think in the end its just work ethic. You may have to work harder than all those kids but you can still compete with them.
