Hey guys! I've been admitted into UCSB (!) and they said that my major was "pre-psychology." All the other schools to which I've been accepted so far have my major as just psychology. Just wondering what pre-psych at UCSB entails and how it leads into the normal psych major. Thanks!

go to the dept website. They explain what pre-major status means and how you get accepted into the major.

Since you are are not officially in the major yet, you are considered in the pre-major. Once you complete all the requirements to declare the major, you will be granted the full major status. Regardless, you are still a psych major.

This happens to everyone. Around the end of your second year you will meet all the requirements to become a “full major,” and at this time you major will say “psychology” rather than “pre-psych.” All the majors and departments (as far as I know) do this.
