nomeansnext— Marymount offered verbally and emailed following Cleveland Unifieds and my DD auditioned and was called back for Rider at CAP in Atlanta (another kind of unifieds) this past weekend.
@Rocketwoman37 and @WDWMom BAL means Break A Leg!
@Rocketwoman37 and @WDWMom BAL is the acronym for Break A Leg
@Rocketwoman37 and @WDWMom “Break A Leg” ?
BAL= Break a leg:)
Thanks for the Hartt and NYU confirmation everyone. I can totally see how things like prescreen and academic passes can get muddled. D did all of the submissions on her own and reported afterward. The info was coming through a stressed teen and mistakes had to be corrected after initially putting everything in a spreadsheet. I’m glad there aren’t more corrections to make.
As far as sharing acceptances right now, I love that there’s an opportunity for us to put our child’s success out in to the world with some anonymity. What D and I did discuss was if she does end up with an early acceptance, not sharing it with other kids and their families during Live Audition days. For one, you never know who is listening from another school. That and D said she could see it getting in her head if someone was rattling off all their prescreen passes and school acceptance right before she had to be in The Room. She wouldn’t want to do that to someone else. Just our opinion :).
So…BAL…Break a Leg
BOL…Best of Luck!
Got it!! Thanks!!!
Sometimes, it just seems polite to the othe kids and the students NOT to tell too much. She would hate to think that her announcing her acceptances might make someone else nervous about their own. She is okay with pre-screens because everyone is hearing about those right now. It is a LONG time until May 1, and colleges will be making a lot of decisions at different times. She feels this is a very personal journey, and NOT a chance to brag. She thinks that almost everyone will have some successes and some failures, and there is no reason to make anyone else feel uncomfortable. She adamantly feels that the HARDEST cuts are after you pass the pre-screen, and getting a big head because of the passes you get in pre-screens is just dumb. She is nervous, scared, and just wants to find her happy place. My D is super level-headed, and also very private; so I am very restricted as to what I am allowed to say on here per her rules.
But, she is right, and I am proud of her humility…
I just share what I can!
BAL= BREAK A LEG
Has anyone received a pre-screen decision from Coastal Carolina during the month of November?
@SingerDancerMom my S received his email 11/11 (it was a No)…he submitted 10/20 if that helps
@SingerDancerMom I did - very first day of November
@SingerDancerMom yes, received a no from Coastal Carolina on 11/10 after submitting in late October.
@SavsMom thanks for the clarification and CONGRATS!! Having a few acceptances has got to be a relief!
Whew! With our last prescreen result of the year finally in (a yes from Indiana), we can finally book flights for Unifieds. Crossing fingers Penn State can be scheduled in the one spot I have for it if the results come back positive.
@SavsMom congrats on your early acceptances! I’m sure that alleviates a lot of stress. Did all of your acceptances come from CAP? If you go to CAP, can you skip prescreen submissions? We’re looking at it for next year. It seems like a great program.
ElizaDoolittle, Congratulations! When did you submit your Indiana presceen?
One question about the Rider prescreen. We do not get an email from Rider telling us that my D passed the prescreen. But I went to the status page and there is a link to allow me to register for a live audition. Does it mean that my D passed the prescreen?
@jianzhou we received an email. I would reach out to your admissions counselor and verify with them.
With the exception of Elon (who tells you they don’t send decisions until January) my son was fortunate to pass all the other prescreens who are making rolling decisions except for Syracuse. Yesterday was the 3 week mark and the end of the time frame they had listed for a decision. I had my son reach out to see if he missed an email since he had heard from everyone else. Lo and behold, they claimed they sent his approval back on the 13th and they re-sent it after his inquiry! We looked in every possible folder and that email was never received on the 13th. I am so glad I had him reach out. We may have missed scheduling his audition for the day that works for our travel schedule! If you have any decisions lingering, don’t hesitate to ask them what’s going on!
I am so glad this prescreen stuff is over. Now on to stress over the audition results, hahaha!!
