Hi. I am going to apply to UCLA as a piano major, but I need to send in a pre-screening tape before being selected for live-audition and I have a question about the time limit. I have four pieces that I have prepared, but they pass the time limit for the pre-screening tape, which is 12 minutes. So what do I do? Do I have to pick another piece?

Not a music major, but from what I do know, entrance into the music department is extremely competitive. IMO, get another piece so you fit in the 12 minute time limit…don’t give them a reason to dock off points from your application. Good luck!
