I have reviewed all pre-screens that were complete as of today and responded via the GetAcceptd messaging system. Confirmation emails will follow over the next wee or two as well. As always, if there are any questions regarding the pre-screens or the audition itself, I encourage you to email me with your question and include a phone number where I can call you back.

I was at Florida Theatre Conference last week so I have been a bit out of pocket. I am back in the office today and I will resume reviewing prescreens. If you submitted one last week or this week, you can expect to hear by Friday!

I was wondering if your prescreen requirement were the same as your live audition requirements. On the live requirements it says to have “two prepared contrasting musical selections (one ballad and one up-tempo selection) and a prepared 90 second monologue within your casting range” and for the prescreen checklist, it only states that you need 2 16 bar cuts. I just wanted to confirm with you to be sure.
Hello!
No, our pre-screen requirements are actually not the same as the live audition requirements. The pre-screen is just two contrasting 16 bar cuts.
For the live audition we ask applicants to prepare two contrasting full songs, in context (with the caveat that if you have chosen a really long song, then do please bring a cut but it doesn’t need to be a specific length) and a monologue not longer than 90 seconds. We do not require that you use the same material for your live audition that you used in your pre-screen. We also do a full dance audition with a warm up, a ballet combination and a jazz/MT combination.
Thank you for considering FSU.

BarbaraD; I am so sorry, I just saw this.
The only difference in the audition day for a BM vs a BFA applicant is in the preparation. There is no difference in either the structure of the day or the adjudication. Because it’s one Music Theatre program in which the student decides whether he or she wants to pursue a BFA or a BM (honestly-we have people switch from one to the other at check-in) auditioners are evaluated in all three areas using exactly the same criteria. The College of Music requires applicants to have prepared two classical pieces, so BM applicants have to have those in addition to the two musical theatre selections. We will still hear two songs from all students auditioning. Both BFA and BM applicants will check in at 8:30, do the dance call (together) at 9:30 and have a 7-10 minute individual appointment in the afternoon where they will sing two songs and perform a monologue.
In the interests of clarity; the core curriculum is the same for both programs. The differences lie in the outside requirements. (Directing vs. conducting; theatre history vs. music history; tech theatre vs. adv. music theory)
I hope this helps, but please feel free to email me or give me a call as well.
