Pre-taking classes

I am hesitant to even post this thread because of the sheer nerdiness of what I am considering to do, but.... some kids in my school take classes over the summer at local cc's to either skip a class or makeup for a class they failed. I was thinking of pre taking some of my harder classes I am scheduled to do next year over the summer. I would do this so they will be a breeze when I take them during the school year.

The reason I am doing this is because it has become blatantly obvious that if I want any chance an the universities I am interested in I am going to have to kick GPA @ss, and get a 4.0 UW- 4.64 W to bring up my cumulative.

Here is my Junior schedule and what I am doing over the summer to prepare

Hon Spanish 4- Currently studying with a tutor for this
CHS Business Calc- Class over the summer at a CC
Honors Physics (notoruisly hard at my HS)- Class at a CC
AP English- Nothing much is supposed to be a breeze
Honors Accounting 2- Also pretty easy even though it is one of the only offered honors electives
AP Macro Econ- Econ/finance is my forte and already have read numerous subject matter and have gotten a 4 on a practice ap exam.
HN Western Civ- Supposed to be a joke, the only reason I am taking is district requires one western history course.

Do you guys think this is somewhat sane? Do people do this?

Okay, here is the low down for me:

IF the CC is offering classes this summer, I will take Calculus there, quiet possibly micro architecture, but I don’t need it. I won’t get credit for it. I honestly do not care, it is the knowledge gained that counts. Due to the budget cuts, they might be closed during summer (traditionally, they let kids do that)

I used OCW/a text book to prep one of my classes (physics).

If a borrowed text suffices, then no need to spend quite a bit of cash.
