Harvard as well has funds controlled outside of the university and all 10,000+ funds are included in their reported endowment. So saying must schools can be somewhat deceiving.

In my opinion, UCB, Michigan, and UVA will always be in the top three. I highly doubt this will ever change.

is UF really that good? it seems to be high on lots of ppl's lists but i dont know why.

but i personally think UCSD will be in the same place as it is now (top 7 or 8..maybe even 5 or 6 in the future since it is still growing..est 1960s). it is still young and obviously still has lots of room for growth. i think the top publics will not change much though b/c they all already have the strong rep they earned. but with such high quality already, it is harder for the top publics to keep improving.

W&M

Virginia
NC
Michigan
Cal
UCLA

GA Tech
Texas
Wisconsin
UCSD
Washington

College Park will be #1 on that list. Mock my words

"is UF really that good"

They will have a heck of alot more money coming in due to the revamping of the Tuition dollars. Also, as the Population grows by 7 million over the next decade it will become that much more competitive in the admissions selectivity.

It seems like PSU is one of the most overlooked publics out there

Yea... just love Portland State University...my sister goes their....lol

SarahLitke: Er, did you mean "mark my words"? Or was "Mock my words" intentional?

I hope she meant mock haha, no way maryland will ever be the top public, nor will any school that isn't named Virginia, NC, Michigan, Berkeley, UCLA, or WM

Bob Jones University

So..what about Minnesota?

STJU has them at #8 in their rankings..

If we're talking about the top 10 publics -- no -- nobody is intentionally overlooking PSU. If we were talking about 10-20, on the other hand, PSU would be right there.

Doubtful as to whether that will be enough to propel them into the top 10 - it's not as if other schools will be idle, just waiting to be passed up. Being more selective will help but building star faculty will take time. Schools like G-Tech, UIUC, UW and Minnesota already have strong reputations in various undergrad/grad programs that they will likely continue to build on.

The University of Virginia just found how hard it is to upgrade faculty on a large scale.
