Apologies if this has already been started, but I am very interested to see how the cheating scandal affects the college process and elite admissions in the next few years.
My guesses:
-It will become more difficult for students to get test accomodations.
-Elite schools will become even more difficult to get into, for several reasons. 1.) People still want what they want, 2.) no such thing as bad publicity, and 3.) colleges will do more to ensure that applicants are “untainted” by anything dubious.
-There won’t be much of a long-term effect on the test prep and college advising industry because I think the demand will still be there (see above.) Having said that, there may be a slow-down at the start of the next application season because some parents might have ethical concerns and not rely on such services.
-Athletic recruits will find things more difficult going forward.
I’m sure there are many other ideas out there. What are your thoughts?
