So, a couple of months ago I planned a visit to Chicago (I live in Central NY [if you couldn't tell]) so I could spend April Break in the city with my older sister. I leave next friday and return the friday after that...

Unfortunately, the Preview NU days begin the monday after I return home...and instead of flying/driving 11 hrs all the way back to Evanston, I wanted to visit NU for a few days while I'm up there.

I'm seeking advice on what to do while I'm there. There seem to be some real NU experts out there <cough>Sam Lee<cough> so I was wondering if you had any pointers. I'll be signing up for an information session and tour (I've done a tour before but it was freezing with horizontal rain---the only thing I saw during the hour of walking was the underside of my umbrella) and hopefully some class visits, and I'm going to see if maybe I can organize an overnight stay...</cough></cough>

Any tips? I just want to get to know NU like I know G'town...so maybe I'll fall in love with NU like I love G'town!

Do the tour, it's pretty interesting. If you are feeling social, talk to some students who aren't racing to class; a great amount of people here would love the chance to talk about NU and answer any of your questions. I'd also recommend getting to know Evanston, because it's a great town with a lot to offer.

Econ; my original plan was to go somewhere with an undergrad business program, but....NU is making me reconsider. I've come down to being split between there and Gtown

Also, I'm toying with the idea of a minor in Chinese language..in attempt to get into the i-banking or i-something scene. would that be difficult if i wanted to try a double major?

Does anyone know how hard chinese is to learn? Esp in comparison with the romance languages. I know nothing.

Chinese, in my opinion, is one of the hardest languages to learn - it is practically nothing like the romance languages. I went to Chinese School for 10 years and still feel like I know next to nothing. The key is to practice it.

I agree that a lot of NU ppl are very happy to talk about their school and you should definitely come visit when the weather gets warmer. It's beautiful here in the spring and summer!!

cny, when you visit, drop me a line (AIM is so danny said). You should come to my Intro to Microecon class; Kamal is teaching it this quarter and she is fantastic. And if you're still interested in Business, check out this thread which explains how you can still get a great business education at the undergraduate level at NU.
