i've read several threads about Brandeis U. and all of them seem to say that premed is very difficult there. It mentioned that the science classes are impossible and that the professors don't grade fairly. Most students end up switching majors. Does anyone know if this is true?

I'm interested in persuing premed, and i've already been accepted to Brandeis, but this issue about premed being impossible is concerning me.

I'd be shocked if that's true - at the info session on Monday, they said that they have an 80% admit rate to medical school.

That doesn't mean that premed is easy, but it is possible. (Also, please realize that Brandeis doesn't have a "premed" major. You can major in anything as long as you take the six or so courses that med schools require.)

premed will be difficult just about anywhere. the number of kids who enter college premed and who finish college premed is very different. (and not all the reasons are bad -- its ok for students to change their minds at college -- i mean shouldn't college be about exploring possbilites, not just following the course you mapped out at age 16?)

what you really have to consider is not just one school in isolation, but how schools compare. ie, not is premed tough at College X -- but how would the premed experience at Colleges X, Y, and Z compare. why is College X supposedly tough and what, if anything, would be different at Y or Z.
