anyone know how the premed program is at bowdoin? how the counseling is? average MCAT scores, etc?

I don't know about all those things specifically, but I can tell you that you can definitely go to a great med school through Bowdoin. My interviewer was the chief of neonatal surgery at a prominent regional hospital where I live. And he told me that liberal arts education he got at Bowdoin helped him a lot.

The Pre-med counseling, ie. the Pre-Health advisor is supposedly very well-known in medical school circles. Every year, Bowdoin sends 2-3 students to Harvard Med..I believe..

Pre-med at Bowdoin is REALLY good. The Pre-Health advisor at Bowdoin is superb and dedicates her life to help students. She can routinely be seen in her office after 12 AM, and is always willing to sit down and talk with you. The majority of students that apply to medical school have about a 3.5 GPA and 30+ on the MCAT. As result, on average per year, 90% of Bowdoin applicants that apply are accepted to at least ONE medical school. Bowdoin's pre-med course are also well taught, however almost all of them are rigorous (i.e. Orgo is particular tough, but... students who get B's in the class, testify that orgo is their strongest section on the MCAT). On a final note, if you look at the list of where people are attending medical school, the list includes: Harvard, Georgetown, Mayo, Dartmouth, Tufts, UCSF, Brown, UVM, Yale, etc.

thanks...now i have another good reason to want to go to bowdoin. now i just have to keep waiting for decisions...do they send rejections and acceptances at the same time?

yeah they do.

good luck man.
