So, I’ve heard from a lot of people that doing pre-med at a highly ranked LAC is often the best choice because so many kids get weeded out at places like Cornell, Duke, Hopkins, Wash U, Notre Dame, etc. Do you guys know any pre-med kids at Bowdoin? Are they happy with their choice of school?

Good question! Bump.

I don't know if it is better, but from what I've heard Bowdoin certainly isn't easy and LAC's are just as good for premed as other schools.

if you look at the publications that Bowdoin puts out they say like ~~90% of the students who apply to med school get in or something
i might be exaggerating a bit there
but the number is really high

^no, that's pretty close to Washington & Lee and Middlebury, and the schools are of comparable caliber, so I bet it's accurate.

Actually, the LACs are better for pre-med in terms of substance and MCAT preparation than the highly competitive programs at top schools. People exhaust themselves doing bioengineering at Berkeley or UC San Diego. Fantastic programs. But if you just want to be a well-rounded doctor, take a breath, smell the roses, ski.....

What if you want to be a narrow-minded, stressed-out doctor?
