i am looking to do premed at berkeley. i was accepted into the college of chemistry with chemical biology as my major. is this a good way of pursuing premed...or is there anyway i could switch to a different major.

The best pre-med major for any student is one that he or she enjoys (and that hopefully gives out a high proportion of A's). If you enjoy chemistry, then you should do great as a chem bio major (though the chemistry major offers more flexibility in terms of what courses you take, which may benefit pre-meds).

Just as a heads-up, chemical biology is substantially more difficult than any of the other biology-related majors (though there's really not that much biology in chemical biology). If you want to switch into the College of Letters and Science, it's simply a matter of filling out a few forms during CalSO. Again, I would recommend you major in something you like, whether it be chemical biology or underwater basket weaving.
