Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld

Ok, yes, I know there has been threads on this (Two to be precise.), but I thought I'd throw the question out there once more.

How many of you have read Prep, and what did you think of it?

I'm about half way through currently. From what I've read on here I didn't think I'd enjoy it and it would draw me away from the prospects of BS, especially a small BS, but I really am enjoying it. It's actually having me consider looking into some smaller schools. The writing isn't amazing by any means, but it's interesting to say the least.

I thought it was a pretty mediocre book. I got tired of Lee’s whining after a while. :P

I almost didn’t get through it. She is just too anti-social for my liking. She doesn’t even try to talk to other people, which even the quietest people get up to courage to do sometimes. Her whining doesn’t help either =P

yea…
the school itself reminded me a lot of groton.
(well duh, sittenfield went there).
but lee as a character was really annoying.
she complained a lot, but i mean, it was sort of her fault for not tlaking to anyone…

I liked it. A lot. There were certain things that Lee said that I could really identify it, and sometimes it felt like I was reading about the worst, deepest-buried part of myself.

^ I agree. I completely agree.

I disliked it, Lee really irritated me. She was whiny and I felt like she was purposly antisocial. The writing was ok- by far not the best but so so.

Here’s an article that Curtis Sittenfeld wrote that appeared in the New York Times a few years ago. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/07/opinion/07sittenfeld.html?pagewanted=print</a></p>
