Any particular school? or just a sort of dream-school the author thought was a regular school? what about the It Girl series? any ideas, anyone?

I don't know. I do know that was the book that made me want to go to boarding school though! It is so good! Private is set in Connecticut and the It Girl is set in New York. I'm not really sure what school exactly, though.

I have a guess that it's probably based on a mix of schools. I'm not really sure any of them have a "Billings" or anything. Originally, I thought it was Deerfield though.

yeah/ i like the it girl series better than the private series...they're good for if you're bored and have like 30 minutes to spare haha

haha... i sorta thought it was like hotchkiss or choate. (for private at least!)

but i love those books... (guilty pleasure)

I love them, too! Especially Private because that was the reason I applied to boarding school and they have a sense of mystery and therefore have a better developed plot and suspense.

Did anyone read prep?

did anyone really a separate peace?

i meant read
sorry
not really
my bad

Yes, I read Prep. I found it to be interesting and did not think it was as bad as people say it is, but it could have certainly been better (for example, the author left a lot of subplots hanging).

yeah i read prep. its based on groton

I thought prep was really good

I didn't enjoy Prep. Though it kept me on the edge of my seat, it left with an uneasiness about going off to BS.

I thought prep was horrible, i just hated the main character so much ,she was such a whimp. grrrrrr.

Same, but I sort of loved to hate her. It was a really weird book.

prep was well written but... it also made me nervous about boarding school! plus i absolutely hated the main character, but that might be one of the book's strong points.

I agree with starrynite, I had the same experience with the book. I felt very uneasy about going away to school after reading it.

I liked Prep a lot, and I'm sorry to say that is was a very accurate depiction of boarding school. It's based on Groton, but it's incredibly similar to my school, right down to the Assassin game.

Haha...I thought that I was the only one on this forum who had read these books-whew!-I feel so much better now! Haha, I agree, they are guilty pleasures : )

I'm gonna go with Darrow
