Prep Class Practice Test Correlation to Real?

My mom recently made me take an SAT prep class with Kaplan to drag my score up. On the latest test they proctored, I got a 2270 (800M, 730CR, 740W) and a 12 on the essay. Does anyone know if Kaplan's tests (those taken in the classroom), or any prep class's proctored tests really, are a decent indication of what my genuine score probably will be around?

I had taken Barron's and Princeton Review tests from their books by myself a few months back, and I generally scored above the 2100 mark (my CR and Writing have improved since the last time I took one from either) if that is any help.

I always scored higher with Kaplan.

I honestly have no idea why people pay hundreds of dollars to take artificial practice tests, when you can buy a used Blue Book for under $10. It absolutely blows my mind.

Anyway, we really don’t know. Third-party tests aren’t regulated or anything, so you may do significantly better or worse on the real thing. I’d recommend getting the Blue Book and taking some REAL tests to see where you actually stand.

SOrry, but it’s flashing “waste of money”. I score around 210s on my kaplan tests. Gues what I scored on the real one? a 180s.

So yeah.

My mom dragged me into it after hearing about how someone else’s score went up 100-150pts. I didn’t really have a choice there -_- I did take BB, Barron’s, and PR tests by myself a few months back and I was scoring in the mid-2100 range. I suppose I’ll take another released exam to see how I fare now.

Yikes…

Lol, another parent fell for the score increase claims. Do parents not realize that there are a MILLION factors, that probably have nothing directly to do with the prep companies themselves, which caused the increases. E.g. if you have a baseline score of 1400 it is not going to be terribly difficult to raise your score a couple hundred points.
