Prep School GPA for UC Schools

I know that the incoming classes at most UC schools are in the 3.8-4.0 range, especially for UCLA and Berkeley...I come from one of the top prep schools in the country, where nobody has a 4.0 GPA save a few. Nobody really applies to UC schools, only Stanford and usually more East coast schools...will the UC schools recognize that a 4.0 at my school doesn't correlate with a public school 4.0 and adjust, or will my low-3 GPA be immediately tossed aside?

They will know this and take it into account. However, being OOS makes it much more difficult, so even if they do, your chances are probably still slim.

are you the dude with a 2340? you should still apply.

The UCS will recalculate your GPA. You fill in all your coursework and grades into the online app and they calc your GPA. They then look at that number in conjunction with your SAT vs. other applicants.
