Prep Schools In The News & Media

Yet another leading school and its leadership falls in the Diversity quicksand ; they never learn , seems to happen every year at one or more schools . If Middlesex were in the classic education business , they would invite at the same event or in the same academic year , a speaker articulating a differing historical view than Nikole Hannah - Jones. Would seem to be a straightforward positive educational experience for the School’s students .

More news….

Not defending Middlesex’s decision at all but one fact that hasn’t gotten any play is that David Beare, the Head, is married to a Black woman.

Maybe it hasn’t gotten any play because it is absolutely irrelevant?

My spider sense tells me it was the Prez of the Board of Trustees who actually had the biggest role in the “invitation rescission”. Stephen Lari (BofT Prez) won’t be around much longer, not sure about Beare (HOS).

It will take years for MX to recover from this.

Totally agree. As a former MX parent (child transferred out of MX to a better fit) it is abundantly clear that Beare is not the ultimate decision maker. The Board of Trustees run that school and have made many decisions just like this that have not garnered the media attention or rightful outrage. Happy to see them finally being exposed.

BTW surprised this hasn’t been posted yet, but PEA has joined PA as being need-blind:

@Golfgr8 Deerfield vs. Brunswick football this Saturday in Greenwich in the NEPSAC bowl game. 1pm. All the local Deerfield crew going to turn out?

@HazeGrey - it will be a good game! I know many students and parents will show up. Given the amount of energy last May with the Brunswick lax game, it will be interesting to watch the action on and off the field. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and parents! :football: :tada:

News from Brooklyn!

One can only hope that the real story, or at least a more balanced version, will be revealed in due course.

Thanks @HazeGrey for reminding me to post the games!

There are some great games this coming weekend. Place your bets! I predict the following winners: Milton, BB&N, Lawrence Academy, Pingree, Brunswick, & Dexter.

Exeter beat Andover this past weekend in football. Dominant.

In my experience, there is “no real story”.

There are many different experiences and many different perspectives.

Agree that “a more balanced version” is warranted.

Deerfield has an outstanding QB (#12) and just pummeled Choate, the only school to beat Loomis. Edge: Deerfield.

Choate’s O Line is top notch. If Choate can establish its strong running game, Lawrence Academy is in trouble. Edge: Choate

Loomis should be undefeated given it is loaded with college prospects. In general, Loomis, Deerfield, Choate and Avon play tougher schedules than Milton, BB&N, Lawrence Academy. Edge: Loomis

Avon Old Farms also pummeled Choate, a school that scrimmaged BB&N evenly in the pre-season. Edge: Avon Old Farms

I know nothing about Football, but apparently your analysis of which teams have the edge is spot on. Give yourself an A.

Deerfield beat Brunswick 35-28
Choate beat Lawrence Academy 35-7
Loomis beat Milton 21-3
Avon beat BBN 56-13

and also for completeness, even though you didn’t give an edge
Pingree beat Canterbury 34-33
Dexter beat Rivers 46-35

Congrats to all for a great season and a great weekend of football!

I admit I made some wrong bets, but feared that if I predicted a win by Deerfield - they would lose. :worried:  :joy:

I was at the Milton - Loomis Chaffee game; GREAT game between two strong teams and lots of excellent players on both sides and it was a clear, well-played game throughout.

Both teams have a lot of guys who are going to go in to play in college, and quite possibly will be teammates as well.
