Prep Schools in two sentences

Please comment whatever comes to mind when you think of the following schools. The more comments to better. However please be realistic.

Phillips Academy
Exeter
Lawrenceville
Deerfield
Hotchkiss
Groton
Salisbury
Middlesex
Taft
Choate

those are the schools I can think of, other school descriptions are welcome too. Thanks

OK, I’ll bite on the “Two Sentence” description (BTW, much harder than one word), but only for schools that we have visited. NOTE: These are JUST our observations/experiences and therefore should not be interpreted as fact/reality.

Phillips Academy: A school for winners and all-around academic achievers. Andover seems methodical, organized, extremely efficient, and very exacting/careful in choosing their student body.

Phillips Exeter: An extremely intellectual school; a school for savants of all types. Students here may be less synchronously gifted than those at above-mentioned school and are often hyper-achievers in their field.

Hotchkiss: The sleeper school as compared to Exover. They have fabulous college matriculation, a tight community, and seem warm and supportive in general.

Choate: The innovative school that the more staid schools are now trying to emulate! They have positioned themselves well as the “Silicon Valley” environment of prep schools and are now attracting many inventive, maker-space-type applicants.

Interested in what others have to say re: the above observations/thoughts

Oops, forgot the schools “Off” your list.

Episcopal: The Nordstrom of Boarding Schools. Amazingly organized staff, welcoming, supportive and honestly how much better-looking can students and staff get at at BS?
(Insert admission materials here)

Peddie: The swimmer’s school. A great school for day students in South/Central NJ and one that certainly has the funding to sustain amazing programs.

Loomis: (we were SOOO late to our revisit; I don’t feel that I can capture the essence of it, but here’s what I got): An well-organized school that is willing to academically and socio-emotionally support students with potential. Dedicated faculty and staff and located in a very supportive town.

thanks for the input @itcannotbetrue

What does the term “sleeper school” mean?

For fun, here’s what the ambivalent Fitzgerald said about boarding schools in This Side of Paradise:

Depressing…and still about 60% accurate

@LaxPrep --I meant not as well known outside of the Northeast, but a great “find” for those not in the know. Yes, I am aware that someone will argue this which is why I qualified my posts as purely our opinion/observation.
