My experiences in New Orleans and the Carolinas were pretty darn good...

i dont think the families in georgia or wherever it is you're from is anything compared to the wealthiest in california.

kmm, vineyard vines makes acceptable polos as well.......

they make OK polos but much better belts

kmm19 - oh my God, all the more reason not to go to Nantucket!

haha preppy rich schools? uh....Wake?

I don't consider the wealthiest in Cali as preppy, but more "yuppie" than anything. Western yuppie. And the south doesn't compare to the wealthy Californians.

And ugh, no offense, but madras skirts are SO ugly.

well the yuffies dont have to like them. the preps do. and they arent ugly to me

whoops i meant yuppie..what does yuppie mean anyways?

I would say the South is more friendly, if you are a white, heterosexual, Christian, preferably Baptist male, preferably one whose family has lived in the area for several generations. The North is more tolerant and open-minded. Maybe reserved but polite to everyone.

Popped collars seems like a strange idea to me-I guess I won't be adding to the prep population at Amherst. These things take a while to get to WV.

A yuppie is suburban or city person who lives comfortably and affluently... in other words, filthy rich and spoiled.

It's similar to "preppy," except I think "preppy" has become of a southern country club phenomena. A yuppie is trendier then a prep. For example, the Hiltons would be considered yuppies, not preps, in an extremely bloated sense.

UVA, Georgetown

see now i think i sent the wrong message up above. it just ****es me off so bad when people try to act preppy when they really aren't.

paris doesnt appear preppy to me...nor nicky for that matter.

Georgetown by far.

Preppy kids don't go to top collges like princeton and and wake. The preppy kids are too busy partying and drinking, to worry about 4.0+GPA. I'd give it to the state schools. But certain ones, not all of them, for some are anything but preppy.

I will be honest. I am honestly looking for a preppy school, for it fits me. So keep shooting away with the post.

um state schools are definitely not preppy (with the exception of UVA)

UVA isn't that preppy.

UVa is defiantely preppy

Yuppie is part of a group of words coined in the 80s to reduce people to a cultural stereotype -- which is pretty much what is happening here.

Yuppie= young, urban professional
Buppie= Black, urban professional
Dink= Dual Income, No kids

They follow the trail of Hippie, Yippie, and Yaffer (Young American for Freedom), the societal labels of the 60s and 70s...
