prescreen and in-person question

New question! lol -- S has auditions at UNT coming up next weekend. I've never seen him nervous for anything in his life, but he's coming close with this. If any of you remember the whole "passed his prescreen but now denied admission" debacle, you'll know that he thought there for about 3 weeks that North Texas was off the table. Now that he has been admitted to the school proper, his auditions are back on and he feels somewhat behind the curve.
He'd wanted to do 3 new pieces and personally I feel he's ready with several, maybe about 5, but he doesn't feel comfortable yet. He is a crazy perfectionist, though.
I've asked him if he could re-do one of his prescreens. One of them I feel really shows off his tone and is just awesome.
Any ideas? Opinions? BTW, for those who don't know, he is a guitarist and this is for the jazz program.
Thanks!

First and foremost he needs to comply with the audition requirements for jazz guitar set forth on the College of Music web site. So he needs three pieces that must satisfy the requirements. An audition is not the time to try and get a piece right. Thus he needs to feel very comfortable with the pieces he plays. Good luck to your son.

Relying upon muscle memory is a huge help when “audition nerves” kick in. Stick with what he knows right now.
