I’m not even sure my S received a confirmation, he did confirm his app was on file but I don’t think he received a response to his 2/1 on campus request. I’ll have to check.

UGH! Need to ask The D if she requested a date. I feel like we’re running out of slots at Unifieds, but that’s only because it’s impossible to properly schedule since we don’t know how long each audition truly is. AAARGRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!

Sorry to spread the angst! We will be bored silly in March, except for e-mail and mailbox surveillance!! :)

Of course the e-mail from Harriet arrived today. Waiting on one other school and scheduling will be done.

Wanted to ask here before I ask the school- I was called back for BFA MT w/Dance Concentration, but it doesn’t look like they’re conducting a dance portion at unifieds? In that case, if I did my live audition at unifieds, would my dancing just be judged based off of the already submitted prescreen videos?

Thanks!

I can’t answer you absolutely, but my son’s e-mail today said the audition was 15 mins. He is MT, but not Dance Concentration.

SpotConlon I’ve read in previous years they’ll ask you to dance when you do your voice and monologue pieces. Search on it I can’t remember if it was in this section or the general MT part. My S was called back for MT with dance concentration as well but we are going to campus so he has a dance portion from what I understand.

If I’m remembering right, the MT kids started their day earlier than acting at the on-campus auditions. They began with a dance session; the acting kids checked in upstairs while the dance workshop was going on, and then everybody had the info session together. The MT kids did a music theory test, too, and I think (but am not 100% sure) that it was after auditions. The auditions per se are all together when you audition on campus–MT and acting together. Hope that helps?

I forgot to mention my son will be at the Chicago Unifieds, not on campus.

At the Unifieds, you will be asked to dance during the 15 minute audition. There is a student assistant in NYC and Los Angeles, who will put the students through their steps. The director of dance will be in Chicago. all auditions will be recorded and reviewed by faculty

All Otterbein Unified auditions are 15 minutes in length.

When my daughter auditioned in Chicago two years ago, she took her dance shoes in with her expecting to dance. She was asked about her dance experience and she told them she was a beginner/novice and so she didn’t do the combo in the room. I’m just mentioning this so folks know that they may not actually dance. Incidentally, her audition was about 30-40 minutes long . . . they peeked out of the room at one point for their next appointment and he/she was a no-show so they continued chatting with her.

Does everyone get a live audition with Otterbein? Or is it based on your pre-screen?
@PerryParsnips you have to be invited to audition based on your prescreen. You only get a live audition if you pass the prescreen.
