i just got another summer program thing...is Presidential Classroom a scam?

Yeah, I got that in the mail too.

It seems like a Who's-Who type program, except you get to go to DC for a week.

However, there is NO WAY that I'm paying $1200+ to do stuff that Joe Tourist could do.

I actually went to Presidential Classroom when I was in high school over ten years ago. It was a pretty good experience. At my high school only so many people could go and we actually had to interview for the positions. The best part to me was having to opportunity to meet people from all over the country because they assign you three roommates and there is a lot of chance for interaction with the other students who attend. They bring in many speakers and then have some round table type discussions on current issues. They also arranged for us to meet with each of the Congressmen from our state. I happened to be the only person there from my state at the time so I had a one on one meeting with both of my state senators and the representative from my area. Some states had more people there at the time so I don't think there's was as personalized. There is an opportunity for sight seeing, but that is really only a small part of the program. I actually had a great time when I did it and would recommend the experience.
