Presidential Classroom

Has anyone attended the Presidential Classroom summer program? Is it just another expensive "scam" program designed to suck money away from kids who can afford it? If you attended, did you have a positive experience?

Thanks!

While it’s definitely not very selective, I went last year as a rising sophomore for the Journalism program and it was one of the best weeks of my life. I got a partial merit scholarship to go, which helped with the cost. It’s not very academic, I learned a little, but mostly it’s just incredibly fun. I met some of the best people there. If you’re going for a good time, absolutely do it, it was life changing. But I doubt it’ll help an application. However, the people who I went there with now do go to some good colleges: Princeton, Georgetown, American, Emerson, Notre Dame, UVA, etc.

I went to the Intelligence & National Security session last summer. (The journalism session was held at the same time/place & we did some stuff with them.) I’d actually agree with everything octobergirl92 said. Probably won’t help much with college apps. But I did learn a good amount, had a ton of fun (and went to really cool places), and met a good number of like-minded people.
