Well, no official acceptance packet, but this is the second ( after sunday at the square) unofficial letter from NYU. I am a CAS presidential honors scholar.
It says only top 8 percent of enterign freshmen get it, all students selected get some sort of scholarship...

I got that, too, freakish. I'm really hoping for a big (i.e. close to full) scholarship.

i got it as well, but i also got my official NYU acceptence, and already a merit scholarship that came the day after the acceptence?

My Presidential and acceptance letters came on the same day. On my financial aid package, it says "CAS Scholarship --> $25000" so I'm assuming most of that was from the Presidential Honors Scholars Program. You guys will probably get similar money. Congratulations! It pays to be smart! :D

Did you guys read your yellow honors program decision letters? Time to get to work on our essays. :/

Gosh I hope I get this (I need the money).

What about an honors program? How do I get into this?

Was it something that was/is sent separate from admissions? Because I was also offered the $25k scholarship, and I would assume that means I would be in line for either the Pres. scholarship and/or the honors program. What is the deal with the honors program and pres. scholarship?

I got my acceptance and $25K scholarship today. I wonder how many kids are offered this amount.

My son also got the CAS Presidential Honors Scholar, but since he already got the $25,000 Lewis Rudin City Scholarship, they aren't offering him another scholarship.

I got the exact same deal as BCMom's son. :-)

You know how they say it will benefit the student to write that little essay? Do you think its required? And if anyone has more information about what this program entails exactly (I mean from the experience of someone who was part of the program, not what's written in the brochures), please post! I'm interested.

And does anyone think NYU will give me any more money if I ask? I know they're not good with finaid. I'm actually very angry at them on my friend's part - she comes from an extremely low income family and they only offered her a $4000 merit scholarship, along with loans.

I got my admission into the honors program today, which notified me that the $25k on my financil sheet from my admissions packet was the CAS Pres. scholarship. That is always good news, but I wish they would send me more info on the program. GW and Marquette both sent me a booklet on their honors programs, but nothing from NYU. Can anyone tell us about the strength/advantage of the program?
