Okay, this may be another stupid question but on the candidate website we downloaded the sample letter of nomination. Does this mean we are just to write a letter up in that same format with the information requested? It's only one page and we just mail it with my husband's statement of service? It seems short and too easy.

Yes, a Presidential Nomination is an entitlement not a competition.

However, although you get a nomination, it is still a competition because only so many receive appointments each year.

Absolutely, that number would be 100.
Do not rest your laurels on a Presidential. Also apply to your two US Senators, your US Representative and the Vice President.
Cover all bases.

Okay, thanks. We're applying for all, I just thought I might have missed the 15 page form requiring afew more references and a couple of essays. :) As a side note, I 'd like to think that it's an entitlement she's earned for being such a trooper all these years and making the best of everything as a Navy Brat.

you could say that.

But you shouldn't say it. Forget it. Not a good attitude going in. She will get a few minuscule points for being the daughter of a grad, but all in all, she will be in the competition and have to earn her appointment with everyone else.

Point taken! Somehow I meant that to be funny but I reread my post and it wasn't funny at all. I'll be more thoughtful next time. I do appreciate all the help.
