<p>Son got 36 composite in Illinois, and I believe one 35. Definitely not all 36’s. He may have even gotten 2 35’s but not sure.</p>
<p>Of course he didn’t make semifinalist.</p>
<p>if you get a sub score total of 141 you are automatically in regardless of the state. because it is cross compared with SAT score of 1600 (as ACT does not include writing). so anything greater than 140 (35+35+35+35) is considered equivalent to 1600 and so will be included as a candidate.</p>
<p>so in the same state, some 35 composites (sub score 138, 139, 140) will NOT make it and others (sub score 141) will.</p>
<p>I had a subscore composite of 140 (36, 36, 35, 33) and I made it.</p>
<p>My SAT scores were probably slightly better (2370), but I’m almost positive I qualified on the basis of my ACT scores, because I took the SAT sophomore year–which I believe was too soon for it to count. </p>
<p>I am a semifinalist and am looking forward to the postings on Monday (I hope). I knew a ridiculous number of the candidates from Oregon and I know one of the other female semifinalists. So chances are 2/3 that it’ll be good news (as there are only three female academic semifinalists and I’d be happy if my friend or I got it).</p>
