Prestigious Majors at UD?

What majors are offered at UD that are considered to be well regarded? My D loved the UD campus and is considering based on campus environment factors. I am encouraging her to take more stock in her chosen major. I am not sure what UD is “known” for. Any insight?

Chemical Engineering and Nursing have been identified as the most competitive majors for admission to UD. All Engineering majors are also highly regarded nationally. UD is also known for its biology (pre-professional areas), psychology, and its Business majors are also becoming much more highly regarded… Agricultural majors are also highly regarded. There are probably some others as well. . It does have a beautiful campus with many recently built freshman dorms. The Main street area is great for restaurants/studying areas. It is commonly included in national listings of “Public Ivies”, so overall its academic reputation is excellent. Good luck in your D’s college quest.

UD is also known for the school of education which was ranked #11 in the country for undergraduate teacher preparation.

US News and World Report ranked UD #1 (tie) for their graduate program in Physical Therapy.

Interesting to note that: Chris Christie, Joe Biden, and Domenico Montenaro (NPR’s lead political editor) are alumni. They studied either English or Politics.
The honors program is also highly regarded for students of any major.
The university seems to have a broad range of appeal for various majors.

According to Niche.com, the top three most popular majors at University of Delaware are Liberal Arts and Humanities (#1 with 317 graduates), Finance (#2 with 272 graduates), and Nursing (#3 with 207 graduates). I think that speaks for itself.

Here is a link to UD’s own data on top 25 majors.
