I’ve heard the program at UDel is highly selective and although I have a good chance of getting into the school in general I’m a bit nervous about getting into the nursing school. Since freshman year I’ve been in all honors math, english, science, and history classes and junior year i took AP physh, APush and APlang and got 4s on all the exams. As a senior I’m taking AP bio, AP gov, AP lit, AP calc, Ap mod euro along with anatomy as an elective. I have never gotten a grade lower than a B before on my report card. My sats were a super score of 1900 and I am an out of state student from New Jersey. What do you think my chances of getting into the nursing program are?
IMHO if your GPA in major academic subjects is 3.6 or above that your chances of being accepted are reasonably good (obviously no guarantee). Nursing and Chemical Engineering are commonly identified as the two most “competitive” majors for admission to UD. Every year UD receives over 1500+ applications for admission to Nursing with the overwhelming majority being from OOS. They accept around 300 to end up with a freshman Nursing class of around 130-140. Two-Thirds+ of the freshman Nursing class is usually made up of OOS students. The OOS aceptance rate for Nursing is a little below 20% as the reputation of the Nursing Program has continued to escalate with the recognition of the Program as being one of the best on the East Coast and, actually, the nation. UD Nursing Graduates, if they do well, have no problem being accepted into the top Nursing Graduate Degree Programs in the country (if you are interested in becoming an APRN). Our D graduated from the UD Nursing Program in 2010. We are also from NJ. Best wishes to you.
