What are the most competitive majors at UD? I've heard engineering and accounting are two of the hardest.

Chemical Engineering and Nursing have been reported to be the most competive majors for admission to UD followed by other engineering majors. Various Business majors are also very competitive but not at the same level as these majors. Most humanity majors are much less competitive as well as admission to University Studies (undeclared). Other science/music/art majors are probably in the middle area for competiton. However overall competition for admission has been steadily increasing so there are no “easy” majors that would guarantee admission. Check out the overall information listed on UD’s admission website which can give you at least some idea of the overall stats/ GPA/ HS course requirements for admission (unfortunately they are not broken down by major). You also might want to check out UD’s Common Data Set for more info (just type in “University of Delaware Common Data Set” on your browser to get to the website.Good luck.

@Mwallenmd thanks for the info.

Engineering is a broad term. There are some majors at UD where they have a very limited number of slots. Like nursing and communications. They don’t even admit students in Communications. students compete for the major. and it is only about 100 or so slots. As far getting admitted into UD… that depends… are you OOS or live in Delaware… Instate admissions are not competitive. Instate are not even required to have AP courses. Why? because not all delaware high schools offer AP courses.
