Pretty please? *I will chance back*

GPA: 4.04 uw (w/ A+=4.33)
Rank: School doesn't rank but probably 1 or 2/88
School: Private, all-girls boarding. Very well respected.
ACT: 35 composite
SAT: 800 M, 800 W, 760 CR
SAT II: Physics (760), will take Math II, US History, and Chemistry in June
APs: Physics B (5), APUSH (tba), Chem (tba), English Lang (tba)

Basically at our school it is very rare to take APs before junior year. I did Physics B as a sophomore and only one other sophomore was enrolled in any AP class. There are very few honors classes, but I am taking the most rigorous courseload possible. Senior year is looking like BC Calc, AP Euro, AP Bio, AP Economics as an independent (micro and macro), Chinese 4 and English.

Extracurriculars:
School Newspaper- wrote all 4 years, layout editor this year, editor in chief next year
Campus Literary Magazine- contributor all 4 years, layout editor this year, editor in chief next year
Model UN- Junior and Senior year (earliest possible our school allows to join, fairly competitive)
Debate Team- Junior and Senior year (again, fairly competitive)
Peer tutoring (~150 hrs)
I've been dancing for 10 years, haven't really gotten involved with the school dance company for various reasons, probably won't pursue in college but i thought i might as well list it

Probable NMSF/NMF (PSAT was 226)

No hooks...white, lower middle-class female, CT resident

This is my college list as of now (definitely will get pared down, but looking to add more safety schools):
Stanford
Claremont McKenna
Pomona
Pitzer
UCLA (oos)
UCSD (oos)
UNC Chapel Hill (oos)
Emory
Tufts
GW
Johns Hopkins
U Michigan (oos)
Northwestern

Leadership maybe? Other than that spectaculor SAT’s/ACTs, good GPA, and good AP tests… so far atleast.

Standford’s a crapshot for everyone, but still a reach. The rest shouldn’t be too bad, the upper tiers are all reaches, really good shot either way.

bump! please guys! another reply would make my day :)

I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, but why make this thread? I’ll never understand why the chance section is riddled with students with outstanding criteria. Stop worrying. You have a 2340, your in line to be valedictorian at a boarding school, and you have above average ECs. You can go wherever you want for christ’s sake.

Your stats are impressive. The schools you listed seems… disproportionate perhaps? I would say you are in everywhere but Stanford which is still a reach, just like for everybody else. I would suggest looking at more upper tier schools actually, not lower tier ones. You have plenty of safety in there, check out places like: UVA, Duke, Penn and other ivies, you sound like you have a legitimate shot at them.

I agree with tjkid2011, you seem like a well rounded intellectual and have well above average scores and GPA. You have the complete package which is what colleges are looking for. Chance me back please?

Stanford- mid match
Claremont McKenna- low match
Pomona- low match
Pitzer-in
UCLA-low match
UCSD-low match
UNC Chapel Hill-in
Emory-low match
Tufts-safety
GW-in
Johns Hopkins- low match
U Michigan-in
Northwestern- low match

You have an above average chance at just about every school I can think of, nothing you really need to improve as far as I can tell. A bit more volunteering wouldn’t hurt, but that’s not all that important in my mind. I would suggest looking at some better schools, someone with your stats can really go wherever they want.

Oh- Chance me back
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/924407-chance-me-decent-gpa-sats-ecs-relatively-solid.html</a></p>

Stanford- low reach
Claremont McKenna- low match
Pomona- low match
Pitzer-in
UCLA-match
UCSD-match
UNC Chapel Hill- match
Emory-low match
Tufts-safety
GW-in
Johns Hopkins- high match
U Michigan-in
Northwestern- low match

You have a good shot at all these schools. I think you should consider a few more reaches between Stanford and your next highest school. Perhaps some ivies if they interest you.

Chance Back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/924807-upenn-early-decision-others.html</a></p>

agree with everyone else. apply at higher reaches. when you’re accepted at all your schools you’ll be left wondering what you “could have done” if you had applied higher. Pick your “dream school” and add it to the list! Make sure you spend time editing your essays… you’re in!

I have to say that I disagree with some of the chances here. Your SAT I score and your GPA are very good but you really should bring that Physics score higher especially considering a 800 in Physics is barely 91st percentile. The other SAT IIs, aim for above 780.

Also, your ECs seem to be pretty generic and I do not see any leadership apart from School Newspaper and Campus Literary Magazine. Honestly, I would not put MUN or Debate Team because most upper-end colleges do not really care a great deal unless you have leadership positions in those teams. There is, however, a good side to your ECs - you have done many of them for 4 years, which shows commitment, something colleges really like.

You may also want to get some work experience this summer as that is very favourable on a college application.

I am sorry if I seem a little harsh but I would think that you want a honest chance so that you don’t get a surprise if Stanford doesn’t accept you because all the people here gave you amazing chances (saying this because Stanford is truly a crapshoot). I will say this, however, your chances are more than other those of an average Stanford applicant. I think the rate of acceptance was around 8% this year, but I would say you have a 25% chances at least.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/924668-chance-me-ivies-will-chance-back-d.html</a></p>

Ditto on that ^^^^

It’s always a crapshot in tier 1’s anyway

Stanford- reach
Claremont McKenna- in
Pomona- in
Pitzer-in
UCLA-l match
UCSD-match
UNC Chapel Hill- match
Emory-low match
Tufts-low match
GW-in
Johns Hopkins- match
U Michigan-in
Northwestern- match
