Your ECs and rank are fine. SATs could limit your chances at the ivies, you typically need a 2200+. Your GPA isn’t stellar either, but I guess it’s decent. If I were you, I would retake the SATs in january and send scores to the schools that still accept them. Being first generation is certainly a boost, but does not by any means guarantee admission. I hate to say this, but being asian, and an overrepresented minority, you will be held to higher standard than say a first generation hispanic. Nevertheless, I believe that with good recs and brilliant essays you still have a chance. Good Luck :)

Ya definately (and I mean this really isnt even a choice) retake the SATs for UPenn. As of now, while the other components of your application range from adequate to good for UPenn, your test scores will prbly destroy you at most the ivies. Work on it. I think you will need a 2150 to have a serious shot at UPenn. Good Luck!

thanks for the constructive criticism guys!
my problem is that i think im taking the math 2 sat IIs this coming up january so i dont think i can take the SAT I again… could i do anything else?

Ok…well have you tried taking the ACT? I know that some schools, like UChicago, accept February ACT scores, so you could try that. Oh wait…i just looked it up, they only accept january test scores. Well…I would say just really try to write AMAAAZZING essays and if you’re taking Math II then you should probably take Bio as well.

Put everything you have into your essays. Write something that is totally out there and completely unique and you will have a chance. I would definitely suggest taking the ACT as well. Good Luck!

this is one way to test how good your essay is. Grab a few essays from the internet. Print them out. Print your essay out. Give them to a parent or a peer and ask them to choose the best one. If yours doesn’t get picked, you know you have work to do.
