Previous USC Explore Trustee/Presidential applicants

Out of curiosity, for those USC Explore Trustee/Presidential applicants who went through the interview process and were offered the scholarship in the past: If you turned down the scholarship and did not attend USC, which school did you attend?

The reason this question is raised is because when we attended USC Explore earlier this month, the USC faculty and staff repeatedly reminded us that we will have options coming down the road, and to remember to choose USC by May 1st. Therefore, it'll be helpful for us to know how students from previous years have decided. Thanks.

I accepted the Trustee scholarship from USC and turned down offers of admission from Duke, Northwestern, Stanford, Brown, Dartmouth, and Notre Dame.

Wow! Just curious… Are you happy with your choice, or do you regret turning down the other schools? Son is also applying to a similar list, and your experience might be helpful in a few days.

ngongs,

Students enrolled at USC have been on spring break. Perhaps more of them will post now that they have returned to classes.

In the last two years freshmen students formed a Facebook group. Each year one of the topics discussed was other colleges considered along with USC. There was a long list of students who decided SC was the best fit for them over other fine choices.

Some students posted on CC. If I can find the thread I will repost it here.

ngongs,
…found an older thread. See thread regarding Facebook postings.

S turned down Princeton, Stanford, UCB, etc. for USC (with Presidential) last year. Has loved freshman year so far and is sure he made the right choice. Friend of ours D, however, turned down Trustee at USC for Brown as is equally as happy.

wow… thanks for all your inputs. Hopefully, son will also have hard choices to make soon.

I turned down UPenn (Wharton), UNC-Chapel Hill, and Penn State for USC Trustee
