I was previously academically disqualified from UCSD.

I went to community college for two years and worked my grades back to decent shape and will be attending CSULB.

They gave me enough financial aid to cover their estimated cost of attendance. (~$22,000, $7500 in loans [$2000 unsubsidized]).

I just did their loan counseling to get my loans on time... The counseling said I need to contact my previous service provider at UCSD (Nelnet) and tell them I changed schools so they can keep in contact with me.

I'm really paranoid that CSULB or Nelnet will cancel all my aid because they see I was disqualified. CSULB obviously knows since its on my transcript, but Nelnet did not know I was disqualified.

Is there a chance that they will cancel my loan because of my previous academic disqualification? Or am I good to go because CSULB decided to give me aid anyway?

For the record, when I went to CC I got financial aid as well. I did pretty well too (3.8 GPA).

What exactly does this mean?
Were you previously a student at UCSD?
If yes, for some reason were you placed on:
academic probation
academic dismissal
or had your financial aid suspended because you failed to meet satisfactory academic progress?

Being previously disqualified for aid does not mean you can never be eligible again. If your school has determined you are now eligible based on your more recent academic record, you are eligible (assuming there is no other reason to be ineligible such as reaching your aggregate maximum loans).

I had low grades and was on probation for a quarter. I did terrible the next quarter and was dismissed. I’ve never had my financial aid suspended, I just got dismissed. Our EFC is pretty low, 100-0 dollars.

Some where along the line, if your grades were low enough for you to be academically dismissed, your financial aid may have been suspended for failing to meet SAP.

If you did not submit your records from your first school, the CC most likely did not catch that you were enrolled in college previously to starting community college. However, the systems are getting tighter and you probably got flagged by your current school.

As long as there was no gap in your eudcation that would have put your loans in default or you owe $$ to UCSD, just comply and change the school to your current school. If you have a problem with CSULB, your current record would be good grounds to appeal because it does show that you have turned things around. Contact the financial aid office at CSULB to make sure that every thing is ok.

I submitted my bad transcripts to my CC, just so I could take advantage of a few more units I did pass - so they knew that I was previously disqualified, but I still got a BoG waiver and pell grants. Thanks for the reply!
