Hello, Im studying in the University of Texas at El Paso and I would like to transfer to the University of Oklahoma. I would like to know some opinions about the business school. Specially for the Economics, finance and International Business program . My current gpa is 3.87.

Also, it is possible to have double bachelor degrees in the University of Oklahoma? Im thinking in Math and Economics

I believe both Price and CAS offer economics although graduation requirements differ between the two schools. That’s important if you want to double major in math since CAS requires three semesters of a language other than English assuming the student cannot demonstrate competency.

It’s certainly possible to double major in math and econ, especially if you enroll in CAS and not Price although I’m not sure I’d recommend it. A minor in math may be more feasible, especially because all that’s required is the completion of the calculus sequence, one 3,000 level math course, and two 4,000 level ones.

I’m not particularly familiar with the finance or international business programs at OU. I know that one of the girls in my sorority is dating a 2013 finance grad who’s earning a very respectable salary for someone less than a year out of college. Beyond that, I can’t say.

Also, with that high of a GPA, you’re an auto-admit for both Price and CAS.

If you’re curious about degree requirements, you can view the vast majority of them here and compare what’s required for each: [Undergraduate Degree Requirements](Checksheets)

I want double major in economics and math because i want to do a ph in economics and also a MBA and maybe try to pass the exams for be an actuary. Probably I will choose Price for economics because i hear that Price is a good business school.

Also, i want to ask how is the life in Norman? how is the life for an international student?

Just saw this. Norman is a nice college town with a decent amount to do. If you have a car or can convince people to drive you places, the city pretty much has the works. There’s an area right outside of campus with around four different coffee shops, some bars, eating places, and boutique stores. Further from campus you’ll find a couple of Walmarts, a mall, and a good deal of other places. There’s also Oklahoma City around 20 minutes away. I’m personally a huge fan of Norman and can’t wait for Winter Break to be over so I can drive back.

I don’t know enough about international life to comment. The international girls in my sorority love OU as do most of the internationals in my major (predominately people from the petro-states in the Middle East). Mainly I hear complaints about a lack of public transit and a dearth of people from a particular country. If you come from one of the more represented countries on campus (Columbia, Mexico, China, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, etc) you’ll find a good support system. I don’t know if that’s the case for people from say, Zimbabwe.

Agreed with whenhen, although it can be challenging to find things to do later at night when restaurants and such are closed. As far as international groups, I happen to know of a pretty sizable group of Brazilians on campus as well (I know this because they tend to hang out on my floor).
