Price negotiations with SMU

DD accepted to Cox (BBA Scholar), McCombs (no merit offer yet), Jindal (Free), Probably TCU and possibly UChicago (weit listed). SMU has posted FA decision. Is it possible, or has anyone had success, getting SMU to make a better offer?
DD got Provost and BBA Scholar and Texas Equalization, but no Opportunity. I spoke to FA, they said it was based on EFC, but I thought EFC was only for Federal, and school FA was based on CSS Profle? Is there room for negotiation?

I believe most merit scholarships all point to PSAT/SAT/ACT and High school accomplishments.
What is your DD accomplishment to assets if there is room for any negotiation?

Merit is not the issue, it’s the FA part.

It is not the FAFSA EFC but rather what each school determines to be your EFC. What did the SMU NPC say you would have to pay? Need based aid appeals may get you a thousand or more in aid but that’s it.

I was able to get a bit more merit aid through the college my daughter was accepted to at SMU (not Cox). We were not eligible for FA so I never contacted them. But, it would not hurt to check with Cox to see if they’ll consider her for more. As they get a better feel for their yield, they might have more to offer if your daughter is serious about attending.

Got it. https://www.nerdwallet.com/blog/loans/student-loans/css-profile/

You know this already, Look at Net Price over FA. UTD sounds really good.

Good Luck.

We are going to the “Destination SMU” program and I will bring this up then

I requested a review of the offerd ($0) financial aid based on the difference between our EFC and the Net Price (after merit and Texas equalization grant) aka ‘Unmet Need’. Our EFC is in the $16-$18k range. In a VERY well written, and accompanied by spreadsheets, explanation, we were told that there would be no additional aid offered. Like I have said, SMU is very good at communicating and we have had nothing but GREAT experiences with every aspect of the admission process.
This was my ‘worst case’ price estimate, so we were covered, but hey, it never hurts to ask!
And, actually, since my DD is going into business anyway, it was a good lesson for her.
We paid the deposit and she will be attending.
