Primary/Alternative Admission?

<p>I don't quite understand this option under the Supplement section of the Common Application. </p>

<p>If I don't get accepted into my Primary selection, then my admission to Cornell is denied? Which implies that if I do select an Alternative option, then my chances will increase for admission?</p>

<p>I’m also confused on the two different Biological Engineering majors (one offered through the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the College of Engineering).</p>

<p>Is there one that’s better?</p>
