I know I need some leadership roles, but I can't predict getting voted in for something.

Can you tell me what I am lacking to get into a school like Princeton?

Given the fact that your SAT scores are “hopeful” scores and your college options are likely to change, I’m going to request that you go out there, find what you’re passionate about, and come back in like 2 years.

My biggest passions currently (in order) are: Graphic Design (photoshop and such), Running (I will try to get onto Princeton’s or whatever schools’ cross country team), and Building websites. I am also interested in psychology, but that is not my passion. It may be my major though. Thanks for the advice! I am happy to hear a realistic response, but I am a “Go Big or go home” kind of guy.

Ok, ill take your advice. But time is limited, 2 1/2 more years is nothing and everything. I am woking as an intern as graphic designer for the #2 advertising company in florida, I am very passionate about that. Although, I will myself time. I saw your threads and saw that you applied to many prestigious universities. Send me a message on which ones you get accepted to. GOOD LUCK!

On the Princeton website, it states that how one needs to show “promising leadership skills and strength of character”. I am thinking of starting a small organization that donates money to a larger organization to show leadership skills and strength of character. Any ideas?

^Read the comment carefully and then review the basics of the college admissions process. I think you will find that my post is quite relevant :)

^I agree with this comment. You are one of those machines that does things because they look good on resumes. There were 10 kids like you from my school that applied to stanford and yale early this year. ALL REJECTED. You just seem like a machine…

In response to “massive grade inflation”. Yes the whole country has seen massive grade inflation, but all of the classes I will be taking are still extremely difficult. I might get a B here and there, due to the fact of their difficulty.

Also in response to Mustafa
I am the exact opposite of a robot. It is funny that you said that.I have a social life and am very popular. I am active in sports (for the fun of it, obviously not for credentials). I know two kids in my grade who are complete robots, currently #1 in the class of 700. They are not at any football games, social events, dances, nor do they play sports.

I was going to take the easy road and go to North Carolina or University of Florida to be with friends and have leeway. Instead of taking the easy road, I recently decided to make the best of my intellect and try to go to an impressive school. I came onto these forums in search of just that. I’ve always been impressed with Princeton and decided to make it my goal school. So I thought of everything that would make an application look appetizing. Everything else other than that “creating an organzation” thing, is 100% genuinely me. I apologize for being fake, I am a hypocrite. I detest fake people. Sorry for that.

Sorry about the block above.
My real passions as I stated before are: Graphic Design, Running (Love this one), HTML/WebDev. If I get good grades and good Standardized testing scores, do I have a good chance of being admitted? That is the question I would really like to ask.
Thanks for the support

Regardless, Princeton will factor in the grade inflation part(which is what I was trying to hint at).

Hmm seems like you have hobbies, so I’ll take back my comment. Best thing to do now is to keep working on those things you have a passion for and write great essays. No one here can really chance you because none of us can predict what will happen when you apply : / but decent chance if you get the projected SAt scores.

I urge you not to plan out your schedule to the degree that you already have. Let your intellectual passions drive your decisions, not your GPA prospects. If you really want to take all those courses because you are interested or intrigued by the subjects- then do so. But if they are for the GPA points then you will be bored, and are not going to do as well.

More over, don’t be too confident that Princeton will still look the same when you actually apply. Your interest will probably have changed by then and you may be looking at different schools. I know that when i was a sophomore I was dead set on applying early decision to Cornell Architecture, which got me into all these engineering courses that I couldn’t stand. Now that I’m a senior I hope to be admitted to Yale to study political science.

Whenever anyone ask me at school about college advise I always tell them to follow their true passions to the greatest extent possible. Its about quality not quantity.

If I’m just preaching to the coir here, and you already think you are following your true passions, then by all means keep on doing what your doing. But if not- start doing YOUR own thing, not just what looks good. Because to tell the you the truth, I don’t think that you following much of your own interest with NHS, SADD, or Key Club. Those scream college application.

You have a ton of potential here, don’t waste the next two years trying to fit a mold. Princeton doesn’t want the mold, they want you.

“I have a social life and am very popular.” lol

but I agree with most people in that you seem just a bit too planned out, but I still think you have a good chance. Overall, I would say its a good thing you’re this determined this early.

you seem kind of full of yourself, and anyone with your “intellect” would realize that it’s impossible to be accurately “chanced” on a website chock full of college hopefuls.

also ap critical thinking doesn’t exist. just because your school sticks an “ap” label on a class doesn’t mean it will be recognized by princeton.

Sorry, It may be AICE critical thinking. I am not full of myself, I just wanted to set out a possible plan for the future. Nothing is set in stone. I just posted this thread to motivate me to work hard over the years, not to guarantee anything. I wanted to hear a response on what could help me get into Princeton/Other and I learned that I should be myself.
In response: To the planning of my schedule. This is just a plan, I doubt I will take all the classes I have posted.

Last question and I will close this thread after an answer. If I get the grades projected at the beginning of the thread, would I have a good chance in getting into Princeton? Like 30-50%, more or less?

Don’t listen to the other ppl who are flaming you for tryin to plan ahead, there’s nothing wrong with that as long as you are doing what you are truly passionate about

I would say since you are passionate about web design and computer things, go full out in that area. If you can become something like a freelance web designer or win competitions/gain recognition with those skills in some way it can help you a lot.
